Most updates to the AutoStore system can be completed remotely by a Bastian Solutions Support representative.
Updates for AutoStore related Software running on the Application Server and on the Controller require downtime to perform. This downtime will last up to 1 hour, with 30 minutes required for the Application Server and 30 minutes for the Controller. The Software updates are completed by Bastian Solutions Support by running installers provided by AutoStore.
For the Firmware that runs on the AutoStore modules, a full system stop is not required and the updates can be completed with the system running, with the exception of the ASIO module. These modules are updated by Bastian Solutions Support using the AutoStore Service Console except for some firmware that requires on-site interaction, which will be completed by the site Super User using an AVR Programmer, ST-Link, or Hardware Config.
Bastian Solutions Support will break out modules into batches to limit performance impact caused by modules that are taken "offline" for the updates as they can not be used while updating. The time taken for Firmware updates can vary depending on the size of the system and the number of modules updated simultaneously.
The AutoStore Service Console is the quickest way to perform the updates as multiple modules can be updated at once through this method.
AVR, ST-Link, and Hardware Config can be used to update individual modules that either cannot be updated using the AutoStore Service Console, or that failed when using AutoStore Service Console.
